Dr. Amalia Maloco earned her education from Kansas University and Central Luzon State University. She had experience working as a critical care and regular veterinary technician for 8 years before becoming a veterinarian. Her areas of expertise include preventive medicine for small animal, dentistry, routine surgeries, and soft tissue surgeries. Her areas of interest include internal medicine and emergency care. Exceptional veterinary care is incredibly important to Dr. Maloco. She is committed to exemplifying professionalism in caring for clients’ pet’s needs by providing incredible patients care and customer service. Communication and interaction play a pivotal role in her interactions with her clients. Dr. Maloco and her husband Ruel have two children, Peter and Noell. They also have a variety of their own furry friends including: Annabeth, a Yorkie; Emma, a Chihuahua; and Muning, a cat. When Ami isn’t working, she enjoys traveling, shopping, collecting seashells, and most of all, spending time with her family.
Dr. Zimber a Rochester native attended Syracuse University and received his DVM degree from Cornell University. He practiced in New York City and Rochester and was the Seneca Park Zoo veterinarian. In 1978 he opened Midtown Veterinary Hospital where he continues to practice.
After serving the community for many years, Dr. Zimber has decided to retire in March 2024. We are eternally grateful for him and wish him the best in the next chapter of his life.
Dr. Joanna Bender graduated from Purdue University in 1988, earning her degree Veterinary Medicine. She went on to complete a small internship at Cornell University and has been practicing in the Western NY area ever since. Dr. Bender’s professional interests include dermatology and internal medicine, specifically, urology, endocrinology, and feline medicine. She strives to provide the best quality of patient care available, providing exceptional client education. She would resent all options available to treat patients at times of illness and preventative health care to help us avoid diseases & extend our pets’ lives. When she has free time, Dr. Bender enjoys spending time with family, close friends & her pets; Sir Arthur the Shih-Tzu and several rescue cats. She also takes an interest in hiking and backpacking, especially in remote areas and downhill skiing. Dr. Bender is happy to serve the Rochester community alongside the team at Midtown Veterinary Hospital.
Brittany has always loved being around animals and knew she wanted to work with them from a young age. Brittany started her career as a Veterinary Assistant for a mobile vaccine clinic in 2015. By May of 2018, Brittany had graduated with her associates in Veterinary Technology from GCC. In November of 2018 she passed her VTNE and received her license as a Veterinary Technician. Brittany joined the Midtown Veterinary team in December of 2019 and has enjoyed being a part of the MVH family. In June, Brittany proudly adopted her first dog, named Cosmo. Outside of work, her and Cosmo enjoy spending time with their family and friends and enjoy some quiet time to read.
Ruel has extensive experience in business development and relationship building with excellent customer service philosophy. He earned his MBA from Rochester Institute of Technology, in Rochester, NY and Business Administration degree from Albright College, in Reading, PA, as well as a computer programming degree from The Chubb Institute in Jersey City, NJ. Ruel served with the PA National Guard for 9 years. He received several merits and an award for serving and being deployed in Iraq in 2008-2009. Together Ruel and his wife Ami have two children, Peter and Noell, as well as a number of pets! Their pets include Annabeth, a Yorkie; Emma, a Chihuahua; and Muning, a cat.
Noell is currently going to school for Business Administration. Although only being in the field for two years, he is learning all aspects of the practice in the hope of taking over as a Practice Manager eventually. Originally from Queens, NY, he has moved around the tri-state area until finally settling down in Geneseo. Noell loves animals (mostly dogs), especially Frenchies and Pit Bulls. Apart from work, his hobbies include basketball and making music.
Melissa is a Rochester native. She attended Buffalo State College to work towards earning her degree in Education. Melissa had worked in Child Care for many years and then fostered her love of animals by working as a Receptionist for a Veterinary office for the past 4 years. Growing up, she had always had atleast one to two cats as part of her family and carried on her love of cats once on her own. Currently, her family has one cat, Dusty, who is 5 years old, and her first ever dog, Rio, who is 9 years old. Melissa resides in the Rochester area with her husband and three son. As a family, they enjoy camping, hiking, and especially watching movies together. Melissa, if she ever finds quiet time, loves to read.
Growing up, Kristina has always grown up with animals. Born and raised in Long Island, Kristina made a career out of her love of animals. She started her journey into the veterinary field in 2012 and moved to Rochester in 2018 where she started her career at Midtown. She moved away for a few years, but in 2024, calls Rochester her home again.
Sabrina has a fierce passion in helping care for animals that come in all shapes and sizes. She devotes her time off in helping other people for their four legged family members. She hopes to enhance her learnings while continuing to gain experience through each connection she builds at Midtown Vet. With her time off, she enjoys spending time with Blue and Bentley, her fur babies.
Ashaly is a dedicated Animal Care Assistant with a deep passion for helping animals and ensuring they receive the best care possible. With two beloved dogs, Gucci and Dyce, and a colorful home aquarium, she brings her love for animals into every aspect of her life. Currently studying to become a Licensed Veterinary Technician, she is committed to expanding her knowledge and skills to better serve pets and their families.
Outside of work and school, she cherishes time spent with her daughter and close-knit family. Whether relaxing at home or traveling to Florida to visit loved ones, she finds joy in creating meaningful memories. Her compassion, enthusiasm, and drive make her a valued member of the veterinary field and a trusted advocate for every animal in her care.
